This is our material for Sunday worship. Some people use this web page directly. Most of us use this material together over zoom at 10am (details below). There are also many other churches streaming Sunday worship. Here’s a list.

Before we start…

We invite you to join the live zoom service at 10am. You can also access the zoom service with a phone via the dial in service. Call 0131 460 1196 and enter the following numbers:

Meeting ID: 867 1081 1755 #
Participant ID: #
Passcode: 812443 #

After the service, you are welcome to stay on and enjoy a coffee together in “breakout rooms”.

Please remain muted throughout except where directed otherwise. Before the service starts, this gives us an opportunity to wait on God in silence.

Sunday 14 February

Welcome and Introduction (Kirsty)

Good morning everyone and welcome to our Sunday service. If you can’t make it to the Zoom service this morning and you’re catching up later in the week or you’re reading the paper transcript at home, hello to you too! Please know we are thinking of you and you are not forgotten but very much with us in Spirit. Let’s pray for God’s blessings wherever you are just now, and we’ll also use this as a time of confession.

Hi God, thank you so much that you are here with us right now, wherever ‘here’ is and whenever ‘now’ is for each one of us. Lord, we are so grateful that you are with us but please can you give us even more of You? Please give us more of your Holy Spirit to help us know you better, even when it’s hard to make sense of things, and help us to praise you with more love, every day, whatever each day brings. Lord, we’re so sorry for the times we’ve fallen short of the standards You and Jesus set for us. I want to talk to you about those things just now… Lord, please forgive us and help us to be more like you. We ask for these things because Jesus said we can so let them be true.

Absolution (Randy)

Almighty God,
who forgives all who truly repent,
have mercy upon you,
pardon and deliver you from all your sins,
confirm and strengthen you in all goodness,
and keep you in life eternal;
through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Song (Andy / Kirsty)

Let’s praise God with our first song.

Come Now Is The Time To Worship

Birthdays (Kirsty)

Does anybody have a birthday this week? I don’t know of any so if it is your birthday – Happy Birthday!

Medley (Andy / Kirsty)

Time for some more musical worship now – thanks to Andy for choosing the songs today.

Reading (Christine)

If you want to follow along with the readings, now’s the time to grab your Bible. Thank you, Christine for recording these for us. 2 Kings 2:1-12, 2 Corinthians 4:3-6 and Mark 9:2-9.

Sermon (Randy)

Thanks Christine. Randy is bringing us a message today and I’m going to pray for him now. (Transcript.)

Dear Lord, thank you so much for sharing your dear servant Randy with us! What a precious gift he is – thank you. Holy Spirit, please infuse him as he speaks to us and inspire our hearts to know you more. Amen.

Thanks Randy.

Holy Spirit, we ask you again to inspire our hearts to look for and to be your light in the darkness, persevering in all circumstances. Thank you. Amen.

Song (Andy / Kirsty)

Holy Holy Holy

Intercessions (Val G)

We’ll continue in prayer as Val brings our intercessions.

Collect and Lord’s Prayer

Let’s say the collect together:
Holy God,
you know the disorder of our sinful lives:
set straight our crooked hearts,
and bend our wills to love your goodness and your glory
in Jesus Christ our Lord.

And we gather all our prayers together as one:
Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins
as we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation
but deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power,
and the glory are yours
now and for ever.

The Peace (Kirsty)

Now let’s share the Peace with one another… May the peace of God, which passes all understanding, keep our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Amen.

Song (Andy / Kirsty)

Thanks everyone. Now our closing song.

More Than Conquerors

Conclusion and blessing (Kirsty)

We’ll close our service by saying The Grace to one another:
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ,
and the love of God,
and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit,
be with us all evermore.

Don’t forget – we have a Zoom service for Ash Wednesday – that’s this Wednesday, 17th February, 7:30pm on Zoom. The link was in the email Tom sent on the 10th – check your spam if you didn’t get it because mine sometimes goes in there. You will also receive a little ashy envelope between now and then – be careful not to open it on the carpet.

If you’re heading off now – lovely to see you and thanks for joining us! If you’re staying for a chat, now’s a good time to go and get a cuppa and we’ll see you in a few minutes… Thanks Simon.

If you’re joining us real-time but were not on the zoom call, do consider joining us for coffee via zoom breakout rooms. Click here.
