Sunday 28 June

Before we start…

Do feel free to join us live on zoom (here’s the link) if you are worshipping at 10am. We will be using “breakout rooms” to have coffee together afterwards.

Please remain muted throughout except where directed otherwise. It works much better that way over zoom.

This week, Tom leads us, Paul has recorded the sermon, Val is on intercessions, Tricia is reading and Kirsty is on music. Paul V is doing the technical wizardry.

Beginning (Tom)

Welcome to our Sunday worship. I hope you have had a good week and have been enjoying the weather and not become too overheated!

Let’s turn our attention fully to God now as we open in prayer:

Heavenly Father, we your children come together now in the name of your amazing son, our Lord, saviour and friend, Jesus. We pray send your Holy Spirit into each of our homes and places where we are this morning.

Let’s wait a moment on the Holy Spirit…

Amen! Let’s sing our first song together. Do think about involving your body in your worship so it is not just your voice and mind. For a long time, I have been asking God to help me know how to dance before him so that my worship involves every part of me. Let’s not limit ourselves in our worship.

Song (Kirsty / Tom)

Confession (Tom)

God the Father forgives us in Christ and heals us by the Holy Spirit. So let us get rid of all anger and bitterness, all slander and malice, and confess our sins to God our redeemer.

Father, you come to meet us when we return to you:
Lord, have mercy.
Lord, have mercy.

Jesus, you died on the cross for our sins:
Christ, have mercy.
Christ, have mercy.

Spirit, you give us life and peace:
Lord, have mercy.
Lord, have mercy.

Absolution (Tom)

May the God of love and power forgive you and free you from your sins, heal and strengthen you by his Spirit, and raise you to new life in Christ our Lord.

Birthdays (Tom)

Today we celebrate the birthdays of Jonathan and Sonia. Pray for Jonathan and Sonia now in your own words.

Medley (Kirsty / Tom)

Collect (Tom)

God our saviour, look on this wounded world in pity and in power; hold us fast to your promises of peace won for us by your Son, our Saviour Jesus Christ.

Readings (Tricia)

Let’s listen to Tricia reading our Bible readings from Genesis 22.1-14 and Matthew 10.40-42.

Sermon (Tom / Paul H)

Paul is preaching live today on zoom (transcript). Let’s pray for Paul now…

At the end of the sermon, we listen to God Will Provide a Lamb by Michael Card.

The Peace (Everyone)

Peace to you from God our heavenly Father.
Peace from his Son Jesus Christ who is our peace.
Peace from the Holy Spirit, the life-giver.
The peace of the triune God be always with you
and also with you.

Song (Kirsty / Tom)

Intercessions (Val)

Val will now lead us in our Intercessions (transcript):

And we join together to pray the prayer Jesus gave us, the Lord’s Prayer:

Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come, your will be done,
on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours
now and for ever.

Song (Kirsty / Tom)

Conclusion and blessing (Tom)

The peace of God,
which passes all understanding,
keep your hearts and minds
in the knowledge and love of God,
and of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord;
and the blessing of God almighty,
the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit,
be among you and remain with you always.

Go in peace to love and serve the Lord.
In the name of Christ. Amen
