Sunday 12 September

Welcome and Introduction (Randy)

Welcome to everyone and may the Lord fill your home with His blessing and the Holy Spirit anoint you wherever you are as we come together as the family of God, to offer Him praise and thanksgiving, to hear and receive His holy word, and to bring before Him the needs of the world, to ask forgiveness for our sins and to seek His grace through His son Jesus Christ we may give ourselves to His service. If you don’t know me my name is Randy Vickers, our preacher today is Simon Spencer, Anne Stowe will do the readings and Helen Hardisty leads our intercessions. Our songs have been chosen by Andy Bourne and our technical host is Paul Vickers.

Amazing Grace

Confession (Randy – shared screen)

Take just 2 minutes of quiet to surrender our thoughts to Father.

Now let us confess our sins in penitence and faith, firmly resolved to keep God’s commandments and to live in love and peace with all

We say together the words of confession:
Most merciful God,
Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
we confess that we have sinned
in thought, word and deed.
We have not loved you with our whole heart.
We have not loved our neighbours as ourselves.
In your mercy
forgive what we have been,
Help us to amend who we are,
and direct what we shall be;
that we may do justly,
love mercy,
and walk humbly with you, our God.
Amen.

Absolution (Randy)

Almighty God, who forgives all who truly repent,
have mercy on you, pardon and deliver you from all your sins,
confirm and strengthen you in all goodness,
and keep you in life eternal:
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.

Collect (Randy – shared screen)

God, who in generous mercy sent the Holy Spirit
upon your Church in the burning fire of your love:
grant that your people may be fervent
in the fellowship of the gospel
that, always abiding in you,
they may be found steadfast in faith and active in service;
through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord,
who is alive and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever.
Amen.

Creed (Randy – shared screen)

We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty,
maker of heaven and earth,
of all that is, seen and unseen.

We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ,
the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father,
God from God, Light from Light,
true God from true God, begotten, not made,
of one Being with the Father.
Through him all things were made.
For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven:
by the power of the Holy Spirit he became incarnate from the Virgin Mary,
and was made man.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate;
he suffered death and was buried.
On the third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures;
he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead,
and his kingdom will have no end.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father and the Son.
With the Father and the Son he is worshipped and glorified.
He has spoken through the Prophets.
We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church.
We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.
We look for the resurrection of the dead,
and the life of the world to come.
Amen.

Be Thou My Vision

Intercessions (Helen)

Helen is going to lead our intercessions. (Transcript.)

Thank you Helen – Matthew 7:7 says “Ask, and it shall be given to you; seek, and you shall find; knock, and it shall be opened to you. … So Lord we as a church are asking.

The Lord’s Prayer (Randy – shared screen)

As our Saviour taught us, we pray together:
Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins
as we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation
but deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power,
and the glory are yours
now and for ever. Amen.

The Peace (Randy – shared screen)

Jesus said ‘Peace is what I leave with you; it is my own peace that I give you. (John 14:27).

We are the body of Christ.
In the one Spirit we were baptised into one body.
Let us then pursue all that makes for peace and builds up our common life.

The peace of the Lord be always with you;
and also with you.

We share the peace of Jesus together.

Blessing and Dismissal (Randy)

The peace of God,
which passes all understanding,
keep your hearts and minds
in the knowledge and love of God,
and of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord;
and the blessing of God almighty,
the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit,
be among you and remain with you always.
Amen.

Go in peace to love and serve the Lord.
In the name of Christ. Amen.
